Strategic Designer
The business world is rapidly discovering the potential in strategic design, to achieve impact for customers and organizations. Organizations are realizing that traditional ways of solving business challenges do not lead to noticeable benefits beyond a certain point.
Design disciplines such as Strategic Design and Service Design, as well as methods such as co-creation, customer journey mapping and business modeling, offer alternative solutions through reframing and rethinking questions and ultimately point toward unexpected solutions. The business potential in strategic design is well documented by business analytics like McKinsey - see research.

I organize and facilitate workshops addressing any "fuzzy" problem or opportunity your company may have, within my field of expertise. The workshops are organized in close collaboration with the responsible team in your company and facilitated according to the goal set out for the project.
I work with visual design tools and years of experience in engaging people, creating ownership and gaining useful results, like knowledge and impact.
To make sense of things and people becomes more and more important as customer needs become increasingly complex. Often the understanding of customer needs is too shallow and to inconclusive to serve as an adequate foundation for a design process. A thorough and well-conducted user research increases the chances of creating real value for the customer – and thereby increasing the chances for a successful outcome.
Sense making is also to understand and create ownership to your own business model and to keep looking for new models - to keep your business updated.
Service Transformation will be a part of most organizations near future. Service will inevitable be a part of all value propositions. Part of the transformation process will be about products and services, but also the culture within the organization will need to change. A service culture can be very different from that of a traditional production company.
An organization is no better than the people within the organization and a transformation process must have ownership throughout the entire organization to succeed. As a production designer and a service designer, I can plan and execute the transformation process in perfect balance between strategy, opportunity and viability.
In my experience, management and board members often have preconceived ideas about how to work with strategy. Often suggested “new” strategies look very much like all the competitors, resulting in a fight to the death in the “red ocean”. Strategic Design goes beyond traditional thinking and offers the opportunity for creating strategies and innovative business models for “blue oceans” - including the tools to implement them! Strategies are just words on paper, if they are not implemented as part of the company culture and - as we all know - “Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast!”
